Week 4 – Why we love the church

October 29th

Main Thing …

As you drive around the city of London, you will see many different churches with various names and backgrounds and beliefs.  It is important to understand why the church is established, and what NorthPark is all about and what your role is in the church.  Church will have a huge impact throughout your life and it is important to know why we do what we do.

Scratch the Surface…

  • High’s and lows
  • Can you guess how many church services that you have been to since you were born?

Dig a Little Deeper…

  • What are some reasons why people go to church? Both good and bad
  • How do you think that coming to church has an impact on your life?
  • Read 1 Cor 12:12-31 and talk about ways that you think you can contribute to the church as the “body of Christ.”

Personal…

  • You could share about reasons why you serve the church the way you do
  • You could talk about concerns that you have with “church,” but how you work through that

Applications…

  • Pray with your group that God would help us in this area
  • Talk about ways that you can “love the church” this week

Key Scriptures …

John 13:34-35

“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”

1 Cor 12:12

” Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ.”

Hebrews 10:24-25

“And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.”
