Going Deeper – Week 4
PARENT EDITION:
This is our fourth week of our new series called Going Deeper. The first week of our series we started off our series by asking a series of questions to our students to gage where they were at when it came to the concept of worship. We asked all of our students to fill out a small card with one question that they had about worship. We had a lot of amazing questions, and will now be able to use them to judge where we should go with our series. This series is a great opportunity for you as parents to show your kids what it means to live in an attitude of worship as well as living your lives as a living sacrifice, like Paul talks about in the book of Romans.
Question 1: Have you ever had a great moment where you’ve had the opportunity to show your students that worship is so much more than just signing songs of praise on Tuesday nights or Sunday mornings?
Question 2: Over the past few months I’ve noticed that not all our students understand why we sign songs on Tuesday nights or Sunday mornings. How can you, as a parent help your Jr. Highs understand the importance of expressing our love for Christ?
Question 3: Are you able to be a great example of what it means to be a living sacrifice to your family? Why can it be difficult?
Question 4: Do you know of any mentors in your Jr. High’s lives that are great examples of what Paul is talking about in Romans 12?
HOW CAN WE PRAY?
- That our students will start to understand what worship truly is throughout this series.
- That as parents, God will grant you the opportunities to show your students how to live a life of worship.
- That our leaders will be the best possible examples of living lives of worship to our students on a weekly basis.
LEADERS:
This is our fourth week of our series on Going Deeper and exploring the idea of worship with our Jr. Highs. This week I’ve asked Jeff Pike to speak about his heart for worship, and I’m really excited to hear what God has to say through him. During your small groups, work through these questions and maybe come up with a few that are specific to your guys or girls.
Question 1: Go around the room and give a High and Low from last week.
Question 2: How did you choose to show your love for Christ this week? Whats one way that you can try this week?
Question 3: What do you think it means to worship in Spirit and in Truth?
Question 4: What do you think it means to know Jesus more, and grow in relationship with Him? And how does that translate into our worship at Jr. High on Tuesday nights?
“21 Jesus said to her, “Woman, believe me, the hour is coming when neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem will you worship the Father. 22 You worship what you do not know; we worship what we know, for salvation is from the Jews. 23 But the hour is coming and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him. 24 God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.”
Romans 4:21-24
Go around the room and encourage each one of your students in their walk with Jesus and their journey in understanding worship more and more. Encourage a few of your students to pray and then wrap up the prayer by blessing them and the week.
